Most of the time, when going out in Baguio City, all you have to worry about is your errands, traffic, or your destinations. Even at night, you can leisurely walk around the city without being hard-pressed to go home early. It’s not that the city is free of crime, but in recent years, Baguio has managed to cultivate a sense of comfortable safety. This is the result of years worth of work from the local government and the local police to make Baguio a safe city. To be more specific, here are the reasons why Baguio is known as the peaceful city it is today.
Peace and Order is Always a Top Priority
Every year, Baguio City houses more than 300 000 residents in addition to the constant influx of tourists that go in and out of the city. That’s why peace and order are always paramount concerns in the city. Every year, the city always pushes itself to find ways to make its community feel safer. Here, peace and order is not just a mere responsibility but a full-fledged commitment.

Good Police Conduct
The Cordillera police, in general, have been lauded to be some of the most disciplined law enforcers in the country. Apart from that, they have also made sure to do their best to help thwart crime in the city by increasing police visibility and by developing deployment strategies that could cover the places where they are needed. Mayor Benjamin Magalong has also called them some of the friendliest cops in the country in an interview with Inquirer.
Community Involvement
The different sectors of the Baguio community have always been a vital part of keeping the peace in the city. And they have always been eager to help. In fact, to solidify this joint effort in keeping the city peaceful, the Baguio City Police Office launched the KABSAT (Keep all of Baguio Safe and Thriving) campaign earlier in 2019. This aims to bring together different sectors of society and encourage them to look out for each other much like being each other’s keeper.

Laid Back Residents
Plenty of Baguio residents are laid back and warm people. They will always be willing to lend a helping hand. Simple Baguio residents such as taxi drivers, janitors, jeepney drivers, and others being lauded for their honesty in returning lost valuables and such are not uncommon. The residents are also known for being hospitable and peace-loving people that help shape Baguio as the peaceful city it is now.
