As the holidays draw near, so does the new year. And as tempting it is to leave everything be and focus on the celebrations, wouldn’t it be a little better to enter the new year with a fresh and clutter-free home? Fortunately, there’s a very easy way to decluttering your Baguio home in time for the holidays and the new year. All you need is five baskets or containers.
The first container is for things to put away or put back in their designated places. The second container is for items to be recycled. The third is for things that need to be fixed or mended. The fourth is for things that really need to go in the trash. Finally, the fifth container is for things you can donate. You can either bring all five to each room as you declutter or leave them somewhere as a central dumping ground while you work. Then, you go room by room.
Bedroom
Start going through the surfaces of your room such as nightstands and dressers. Put mugs, bottles, finished books, scattered pens and the like in the put-away bin. Then, separate your trash and the recyclables and discard them in the respective bins. Don’t forget to pull everything out of your drawers and go through that too. When it comes to your closet, decide which clothes you want to keep, donate, or even sell. Kitchen
With everything in the kitchen, one good tip is to go zone by zone in the kitchen. Check your storage spaces for food that needs to be thrown out or utensils that need to be repaired. Then go through cabinets, drawers, and countertops for things that don’t belong to the kitchen and place them in your put away box to return them to their rightful places.
Living Room
In the living room, you can work from one corner to the other. Put away scattered books and knick-knacks. Place used paper in the recycling bin. Return misplaced items such as remotes. And store electronics and wires that you’re not using away.
